Insufficient welds could cause the inflator to separate and propel air bag debris into the cabin during a crash. Also, the inflator could fail to inflate during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

 

Summary

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2017 Malibu vehicles manufactured on November 10, 2016.

The right-hand rear side air bag inflator manifold may have insufficient welds.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit vehicles manufactured August 24, 2009, to December 1, 2013.

The affected vehicles, equipped with special equipment options for police or government service, may experience corrosion of the under-hood cooling fan assembly due to fluid intrusion, which may result in an electrical short circuit.

Condition/Concern

Some customers may comment on a hard brake pedal on a cold start up and/or a service brake assist message.

Upon diagnosis a technician may find codes C027B or P050F set in the EBCM.

On some vehicles the connector at the KR14 Brake Booster Pump Motor Relay was not fully seated during installation.

Condition Some customers may comment on intermittent loss of Key Fob and/or Passive Entry, Passive Start functions.

May be accompanied with a “No Remote Detected” message on the DIC.

Other symptoms may include:

  • Passive Locking system locking keys in vehicle
  • Push button start system failure to respond (cannot “start” or “stop”) with “no remote detected” message
  • Passive entry system not responding to Lock/unlock commands
  • System not responding to active FOB key press – Lock, unlock, hatch/trunk, remote start and panic all inoperative
Cause Under rare circumstances, the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) can lock-up and become unresponsive due to multiple signals being received in a specific time span. This condition will be cleared by the BCM once 5 minutes has passed and normal operation will return.
