Involved vehicles are marked “open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. This site should always be checked to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs.

 

Condition
  • Internal manufacturing error caused an insufficient sealing on both side spring strut dome and water channels.
  • Insufficient sealing will result in high corrosion on unprotected areas.
Correction Insufficient sealing

Application of wax seal on the affected area using PN 9559279 using a pressure cup spray gun.

Note: A pressure cup spray gun with a nylon probe, flexible 1500 mm long with a 6mm diameter with radial 360 jet

 

Service Procedure

Cavity Wax Application:

Note: The wax should be sufficiently tempered prior to application (~20° C).

Note: The dashed lines in the pictures show the area where the cavity wax shall be applied.

 

  1. Open the bonnet.

Insert the nylon probe with the 360° radial jet into the opening (1)

  1. Insert the nylon probe with the 360° radial jet into the opening (1) at the right side spring strut dome.
  2. Guide the jet downwards until stop (equals approximately 25 cm length of the nylon probe),
    • Apply cavity wax while slowly pulling out the nylon probe (approximately 8 seconds)
    • Stop application before the opening is reached

Apply wax into the upper section of the spring strut dome

  1. Apply wax into the upper section of the spring strut dome
    • Insert the nylon probe straight forward and into the left and right corner until stop
    • Apply cavity wax while slowly pulling out the probe (approximately 4 second)
    • Stop application before the opening is reached
  2. Repeat steps 2. to 4. on the left spring strut dome
  3. Close the bonnet
