Condition Some owners of vehicles involved in unintended ignition key rotation recalls 14172, 14299 or 14350 may have purchased additional keys over-the-counter from their servicing dealer that were manufactured with a slot for the key ring attachment. These keys may not have had the “slotted key” repair prescribed in these recalls performed prior to sale. We have contacted these customers and asked that they inspect their keys. If the keys have a slot for the key ring attachment, they are to bring them to their GM dealer for free replacement using a service key with a rounded hole as shown below.

Condition
  • Some Takata airbag inflators are made with non-desiccated Phase Stabilised Ammonium Nitrate (PSAN) as a propellant. As it gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade.
  • If the vehicle is involved in a collision, the airbag can go off with too much explosive force causing sharp metal fragments to shoot out and kill or seriously injure people in the vehicle.
Correction GM Holden dealers will replace the driver’s side frontal airbag module assembly.

Condition

On some 2008-2013 model year Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, and 2009-2013 model year Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado LD, and GMC Sierra LD hybrid 2-mode (HP2) vehicles, the accessory power module (APM) may not initialize when the vehicle is started in cold temperatures and the APM is cold. Once the APM warms up, it will initialize and perform as designed. However, during the time that the APM is not operational, it could result in a loss of power steering assist and the battery may not charge. If this condition occurs, the Service Power Steering, Service Hybrid System, or Service Battery Charging System message will appear in the driver information center, the malfunction indicator lamp and red battery telltale may illuminate, and DTC U1821 and U182A will be present.
