Summary
This technical bulletin provides a procedure to replace both front overhead console lamps to correct a customer concern that when the dome lamps are off, if the brake pedal is applied or turn signal is operated, the dome lamp may flash on and off in any of the passenger rows caused by sensitivity of the U42 overhead console to normal voltage fluctuations generated with activation of the brake or turn lamps.

Condition/Concern 1
When the dome lamps are off, if the brake pedal is applied or turn signal is operated, the dome lamp may flash on and off in any of the passenger rows. This issue may also occur when other electrical loads are operated, but the brake pedal and left turn signal are the most common. There will be no DTCs related to this issue.
Condition/Concern 2 (Excluding Escalade Models)
Flicker or pulsing from bright to dim when the rear seat entertainment (RSE) reading/dome lamps are in use with turn signal or brake activation. This condition will only exist on vehicles with RSE (RPO U42) and incandescent (Not LED) tail lamps.
This condition may be due to sensitivity of the U42 overhead console to normal voltage fluctuations generated with activation of the brake or turn lamps. The standard overhead is tolerant of these voltage changes and therefore is unaffected.

Same problem here and out of bumper to bumper warranty he asking for $159 just to check. This piss me off.. it’s a electric problem from fabric. Hope this make it a recall
Any further information or resolution to the flickering light problem?
Does replacement of front courtesy lamps fix the flickering of all of the passenger cabin lights?
I have the same issue with my rear dome lights flickering when I hit the brakes. I have warranty however dealership says it’s not covered. How is that…46k miles. How can I submit a claim against GM? With so many folks having same issue why is this not a recall issue?
Make a complain with the NHTSA https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ Not a recall because it’s not safety related.
Same thing here. At least I know now how to fix it. I brought my truck in but I was about 30 miles over the warranty and they wouldn’t give me the time of day. Not even tell me what to fix. Very disappointing. I would have accepted the over the warranty speech but at least point in the direction on how to fix it.
How did you fix it? Please email me mbeebe00@gmail.com
I am all of these people. It is absolutely ridiculous that so many people with the Tahoe chassis of 2015 have had to endure the time, expense and unsafe problems that have riddled the 2015’s. My self I️ think I’ve had them all. A/C, flickering lights, brakes loosing power assist, plastic pillar pieces breaking on doors, and steering kick. Yeah ridiculous is a nice way of putting it. I’ve had 3 Tahoe’s, 3 Escalade’s, and a Yukon, and you’d think they would have some damn loyalty to the owners/buyers of their products. Not at all, and no support or fixes either. Thank god for the internet, I’ve been able to fix a few on my own.
Had the same problem. Since my 2015 Tahoe is out of warranty, the dealer from which I bought it wanted $291 to fix it. Another GM dealer quoted $168. I went to my local body shop and got it fixed for $110. And that was just for the parts. It only took them 15 minutes to fix it, so they didn’t charge me any labor. I certainly would not take a GM dealership’s word on any of this. Thanks for posting the tech bulletin. I was a big help to the body shop.
Larry, what part did the body shop use to fix the issue?
Both front courtesy lamp modules. Part number is listed above.
Same comment as above. How is a factory electrical problem my responsibility to pay for. Hope everyone has the same feeling as myself, “this will be the last gm product that will be purchased in this household.
Have to pay $410 to get dome lights fixed for my tahoe. This is absurd! GM, I demand a refund! This is your fault, not mine!
I own a 2015 Tahoe it has the interior flashing problem my warranty is over on mileage the dealer wants $300 for the fix if GM knows this is a obvious problem with a bunch of vehicles why would they not issue a recall, really didn’t want to spend $300 on my Tahoe for something that’s GM problem.
